I have suffered with insomnia for years, with the onset of vivid pyschsomatic nightmares. During my methods of coping, I took prescribed antidepressants that also knocked me unconscious within minutes, I begin to need higher doses, that proved to be less effective under extreme stress. Eventually I gave up on the pharmaceutical drugs. Downgraded to OTC diphenhydramine which did the trick. Yet this was just another form of coping and not healing. Over the last few years I discovered the benefits of sleep meditation tracks, nature and water sounds, lastly trying binural beats. I must say, while using these methods my brain begin to heal and sleep became normal again. Listening to music and meditative tracks are soothing to my mind and body. I peacefully drift off into bliss. Wake up feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. Not only do I sleep better, but when I consistently practice this I feel better. Less anxious, less stressed and I respond differently to negative situations, more positively. Using these techniques, the peaceful state I experience during sleep carries well into the next day. I highly recommend it, if you have a chronic insomnia problem and have exhausted all other methods. You can download meditation apps or simply search on YouTube for them.
